We run on sql 2000 enterprise in active/passive cluster (win 2003). It has been fine for 2 years, but yesterday, things got very slow. We switched clusters to see if that would resolve the issue and today even restarted sql services. It did speed up performance for a bit, but then immediately all went slow again.
Nothing has changed: hardware same, no new sps or hotfixes, no changes to applications, all workstations are slow. I even copied on of the databases experiencing slowness to my local install of sql and its fast.
I know which counters to monitor, but really don't understand what the results mean and how they can be resolved. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! The CPU (quad xenons) is not the issue.
