This is causing havoc on report printing. Why does this happen. The reports was designed in an A4 format.

Hi,

Was a printer installed on your CE server previously? Or, did someone just install one recently? I ask because we had CE set up with no printer installed on the server and were experiencing viewer problems. As Crystal is “printer driver” driven we thought installing the same driver that the development machines used would rectify the problem. The result was all reports took on the print properties specified by the printer on the server.
Removed the printer from the server which solved that problem, however the viewer issue still remains……….

Hi
This server did not have a printer installed. I have installed a relevant printer, and will see if that solves the issue.

Many thanks,

Normally you also configure the job and page server to run as a domain user say CE_PRINT_USER
Then log on with that user and setup a printer with the right paper setting etc.
WHen CE prints, that process will now look at the defaults ofr that user. This issolates CE from changes done by the administrator to the admin account.
Here is a extract from the BO web site.
User Rights
The final common cause of printer issues relates to NT User rights to the printer
that is defined by the report. An Access Control List (ACL) governs printers,
like all other resources, in an NT environment. Therefore, the account that is
being used to generate the report pages must have access to the printer
installed/configured on the server machine. If you are using the Crystal Web
Report Server the services that generate the reports/report pages are the “Crystal
Page Server” and the “Crystal Report Job Server”. If you are using Seagate Info
the services are the “Info Sentinel” and “Info Agent” services. You must make
sure that the account that these services are running under (by default the system
account) has access to the printer.
