All pictures being saved as .bmp

It doesn't matter what .gif, .jpg, .png or ANY other format I "save as" online - it always saves as a HUGE .bmp now...LOL

-Not sure what caused this sudden change. The drop-down menu leaves me no other option than ".bmp" Did I install anything recently? No, nothing that would do that.
Everything is now saved as: "untitled.bmp" - any ideas? Remedies?
