HI there,

This morning our print server is acting funny. All of the network printers that run off it have stopped working (HP's 4600 1200 1300) and the only message that comes up in the queue is 'error printing'. I have tried restating the print spooler service, clearing all the print jobs waiting and i have even rebooted the server, but to no avail. Nothing has changed since yesterday. There are no identifying causes in the event logs, and the cpu is sitting idle.

The server is a compaq proliant 3000 running Windows 2000 server edition, with 512 megs ram.

what am i missing here? help!

Ok i found the problem.... Friday evening the site was struck by lightening and somehow this affected all printers even though they were on surge protectors. When i tried to ping them i got no response, and when i printed a config from the units, they were showing this crazy ip address (something like 175.175.175.175) for everything... DHCP, gateway, the lot. It was just a simple case of reseting each printer and allowing DHCP to give them new ip addresses. Very strange indeed, anyone seen anything like this before?

Thanks very much for any suggestions given.
