Is it just me or does Illustrator v9 stink?! I was on v8 for so long without any probs and v9 has given me nothing but trouble!!! I reckon they made all these fancy changes to be able to do web and transparencies etc etc and they completely forgot about print and pre-press users, arrgghhh!!!
One of my reoccurring problems is that when I save a AI file with graph data in it, the next time I try to open it it says "Not enough memory" or "Cannot open file". I have heaps of memory loaded for Illustrator, so how can one little graph file be too big for it??
Also whenever it feels in the mood, it completely loses other files as well once I have saved them to my server. Giving me message "unable to open illustration" when it is only ever simple line art.
I can't seem to find any updates or any info on vers 9 from adobe - they only seem to worry about v10 users now. boo :(

For Windows go here

and for Mac go here

Make sure you download the 9.0.1 and the 9.0.2. You have to install the 9.0.1 patch first.

This should clear up most problems. I feel 9 was actually pretty nice to us printers. You get overprint previews now, you can place anything now and the whole .pdf thing. 10 on the other hand was only neet for web guys so Im still using 9. BEHOLD! As Steve Jobs introduces us the latest in desk-lamp technology!
