An in-office user has Outlook 2000 accessing MSEX 5.5. He receives his interoffice e-mail (MSEX mail) and POP3 e-mail. He also has access to a corporate claendar and contacts. From home, he accesses his office network via a VPN (VPN through router NOT the server). Once connected to the network, he opens his version of Outlook 2000 at home, clicks send/receive, and gets all of the e-mail that he previously saw on his office computer. The e-mail accounts are setup at 1) MSEX, 2) POP3. When he goes back to the office and opens his Outlook 2000 at the office, ALL of his e-mail is gone (MSEX & POP3). I know how to prevent this with POP3, but how do I do this with MSEX? Thank you.

when the user goes in through vpn, and hits send and receive i assume that the user is using the pop/smtp protocol? if so, then in the properties of the users outlook 2k account, there is an option to leave a copy of mail on the server, this will need to be checked so that the users pc does not remove mail from the server...or even better, when the user goes in through vpn, have them connect using imap protocol instead, then setup offline folder synchronizing.

hope this helps...

ciao

I know about the POP3 setting, but all of his MSEX mail disappears also. I could not find a setting for MSEX: keep mail on server. Is it all linked through the POP3 account?

I have not read much on MSEX yet. The above may be a dumb question, sorry & thanks.

in the users outlook, under tools menu, services, is there the exchange server connector and internet email connector installed? how many profiles do they have setup in outlook? when you take a look at their internet email connector, under the advanced tab, you should see a delivery section, it gives you the option of leaving a message on the server, make sure this is checked, and leave the "remove from server after xx days" unchecked, and the "remove from server when deleted" checked.
