I have a Toshiba Laptop with Windows 2000 Pro factory installed. When trying to setup a new user on a different domain, it appears that the local policy has been changed to deny interactive logons for ALL accounts, including administrator. I have installed Windows 2000 Server on this system in a separate directory so that both are available on the laptop, but I need to remove the Windows 2000 Server soon, since it is on loan. Also, I would like to not have to reload the Windows 2000 Pro, since I then need to reload all applications.
I have the correct username and passwords for both OS, but the Windows 2000 Pro denies me access. I do not see the laptop on the network under Windows 2000 Pro, so I may have trouble using "ntrights" on another computer. I can see all of the files for Windows 2000 Pro when running Windows 2000 Server. How can I change the local policy for the Windows 2000 Pro OS? (registry fixes? command line utilities to run on other OS? etc.) I would accept losing all user accounts to recover the OS.
