All in wonder 128 pro no tv sound

Is the soundcard line out connected to the TV line in?

Where are these CD ins and outs? If you want TV sound, it would come from the AIW and go to the sound card. Connecting a sound card output to a TV input makes no sense. You should have audio output RCA plugs coming from the AIW. These should connect to either the line or microphone input on the sound card. I have never seen a sound card with an external CD input.

On my AIW, you then run initialization from within the MMC (Multi Media Center), and tell MMC which sound card input it is connected to. You also need to enable the input for playback in the soundcard's volume control.

I'm kinda making some assumptions having not seen the AIW interface...

I'm assuming that you are using the TV tuner on the AIW and want to output to your TV. (can you explain why, is this because you're getting more channels on the AIW?)

If you just want to watch films/movie files on the computer on your TV then you WILL need to connect the LINE out to the inputs on your TV. If you want to watch TV from the tuner then you'd also need to connect the LINE out of the soundcard to the audio inputs on your TV but also need to connect the line out of the TV tuner to the LINE in on your soundcard. Don't use the mic input on the soundcard as it is pre-amped and the sound will be v.loud and distorted!

Then go to the volume control panel and ensure that all of the levels are up for the line out, master volume and line in. You may need to check that the output to your tv is in the green socket as that is the front speaker output. Unless you select 4 speakers in the Creative surround mixer you won't hear anything from the other output (rear) unless the program is surround encoded.

Norty303,

I think I finally realized why Kimleece asked about the sound card output being connected to the TV input. I am assuming that apnanet is not hearing sound on his PC. He has an AIW because he wants to watch and/or record TV on the PC. That's my assumption. I don't think he's trying to connect the PC to an external TV. Thus, the 'TV input' would be an input to the AIW card on the PC. BTW, ATI does list the microphone input as a valid input to the sound card. You simply adjust the microphone volume, and it sounds fine. The microphone input is used if line in is already occupied by something else.

Apanet, are you still reading this? I think you need to clarify what the problem is.

Here is my problem i don't want to connect to external tv i want to watch tv on my monitor. Old motherboard and cpu was working fine with the tv on monitor with no channel no. 20, but with this new motherboard and cpu i can see the channels working fine also closed captions but it doesn't have any sound coming out. I tried line in, cd out and what u hear but no luck even tried reinstalling the software but it doesn't seem to work. Even dvd player that comes with ati doesn't have sound as well. I am thankful to for your valuable replies.

I assume you can get sound if, for example, you play a CD. Is that true? Have you tried downloading and installing the latest ATI drivers? Where is the ATI audio out connected to the sound card? Have you checked the mixer and playback volume controls for the sound card?

sorry i said dvd doesn't have sound what i mean to say is that dvd has sound only tv doesn't have sound coming. there is a wire coming from the ati card from cd out to cd in the cd rom i downloaded all the latest drivers for the cards but i can't hear anything from the tv

Ah sorry my error for assuming the wrong thing.....however..

You say that there is a wire coming from the CD out port of the AIW going to the CD in of what exactly? I would think that this would need to go to the line input of the soundcard.
I don't know of many CDrom drives with a line input....is this what you're saying or just my bad understanding? If you've got it plugged in the jack in the front then that is a headphone socket and will only put audio out.

Connect the CD/Line out of the AIW to a Line input (I don't care what any soundcard manufacturer says, putting a line level input thru a pre-amped input is just not good enough!!) on the soundcard. You should be ok from there...

Apnanet,

We don't understand how you are making the audio connection from the ATI card to the rest of your system. That is probably where your problem is.

It sounds like maybe you are trying to run wires inside the computer. I am assuming that your AIW is similar to mine (I have a AIW 9700 pro). If so, there should be a series of connectors that can be accessed from outside the PC. The sound card should also have several connections which are accessed from outside the PC. I am NOT talking about a CD connector which is meant to be connected via a wire to a CD player inside the PC.

One of the external cables which came with the AIW, and plugs into the 'back' of the board (from outside the PC) should have, possibly among other connectors, two RCA type connectors which carry the left and right audio channels. (I am doing this from memory, so it may be a stereo miniplug. I don't remember for sure.) These can be connected via a miniplug adapter to the 'line input' of the sound card.

Is that how you are making your connections? If not, do you understand the connections I'm describing? If not, try to explain in more detail EXACTLY where and how you are making the connections.
