All,
I'm new at exchange 2000 and although I understand and work with the basics of Exchange 2000 there is this particular error that is driving me nuts. I'll try to start at the beginning to make it easier to understand....

Before I joined my current employer the admin here upgraded from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000(Box A) and then added another Exchange 2000 box to the organisation(Box B)and migrated the data in Box A to Box B. Box B is now the working exchange server and Box A is no longer used.

There is various problems with the current working server (Outlook Web Access) and we have decided to use Box A for Outlook Web Access alone. The problem is that if I actually shut down Box A I can add a new user to Active Directory but I am unable to modify a users details. All mail can still be transferred with no problems which would lead me to believe that Exchange is Ok but there is some sort of Active Directory link between the two boxes that need both powered on.

I know the place to look is at the schema level but that a dangerous place and I don't want to mess everything up.
Can anyone please help me on this because I need to get this sorted or I will be in trouble. If more details are needed I will be more than happy to give them
