This is to any and all gurus who can help. I do work for a company that uses MS Access, SQL Server and ASP.Net to do most of the data processing and browsing. They have remote locations through out the city.

Right now they use CITRIX to get them to the data.

They are considering using blackberries but want know:

Can they continue to use Access or other "Office" products?

Can they continue to use CITRIX or would they need to?

Would the programmers need to know JAVA in order to use blackberry.

Any help or any thing that I have left out would be nice to know.

Good questions...

I don't know of any way to use a Citrix client on a BlackBerry.

Office-type applications are rather limited in scope on the BB (try eOffice by DynoPlex).

Portals can be accessed through the BlackBerry, but programming anything would depend on what you need the device to do.

Honestly, and I hate to say this in this forum, it appears like you would need wireless PocketPC devices if you want to retain Citrix compatibility and a Windoes-like GUI.

I agree with greenW on this. TO really get what you want successfully a PocketPC maybe the way to go. The new Ipaq from T-Mobile recently came out. I will be demoing one shortly.

Thanks to both of you. I will forward this on immediately.

God bless you too for your foresight in planning this properly instead of just forging ahead.

Oh man could you imagine????

Unfortunately we were under such pressure from management they did not care about facts and basically forced us to forge ahead. The result...spending thousands on newer models, replacements, switching providers, etc.

What is it they say...if you fail to plan, plan to fail.
