All fields of a record display "#delete"

I've got one record in my table that displays "#delete" for all fields.

I cannot remove this record. Each time I try to delete it, it behaves as if it is deleted. But when I open the table again, the record is still there!

And the weirdest thing is that the correct value of each field is remembered even when all that's showing is "#delete", because it doesn't allow entering the same record again, citing "duplicate primary key".

We don't know what caused this to happen. The person who entered data said a window poped up and she clicked OK and that was it.

You actually might have a corrupted index. If you're using autonumbers as they primary key, it'll just go to the next number. But, if the index is corrupted, it will tell you that it can't create the record because it would create duplicate values. Another message might be that it can't go to the end of the specified record.

First, try running compact and repair. This might fix it. If it doesn't, create a new blank database and import the database into it. Then run repair and compact again.
