Your question is about an issue that keeps popping up. I assume that with criteria you mean prompts.
BO works with static SQL that is generated through the query panel. If you define 5 prompts, there will be at least 5 'AND' clauses in the WHERE part of the SQL that is generated. Implicitly this means that if one ore more of these clauses will not cause ANY data to be returned , nothing will be returned from the entire SQL.
If you leave a prompt open, this requirement is met, and the result will be no data. BO does not provide a standard way around this. If you want different sets of prompts, then create matching reports to keep everything clear for everyone. T. Blom
