Hello,

I am running Win XP Home Edition. I have IE 6, Netscape 4.77, and Mozilla browsers on my system, and whenever I try to view a link within a page (especially Yahoo), the page comes up completely blank. IE 6 tells me it's "done" yet the page shows nothing. Netscape and Mozilla give me a "GIF 2x2 Pixel Image" message at the bottom of my screen and a blank page as a bonus.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a Win XP problem, or is it something else?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Three browsers with problems may be a hard one to solve. If it was just IE6, I would suggest this solution (maybe worth a try anyway).

Run each of the following from start/run: and re-register the following DLL's.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

Some general things you can try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with your Browsers.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

Are you running good anti virus software incase this is a virus?

This thread may also offer some solutions although the problem is slightly different.

Linney,

Thanks for all the advice. All of my browsers are now working perfectly!! Your first solution fixed IE 6. I am not sure which of the other solutions fixed Netscape and Mozilla, but one of them worked. I didn't have to re-install Win XP, so I think it was either the file checker or Chk dsk.

Thanks again!
