Hi everybody,
I have the following problem.
We use an alpha server with digital unix 3.2c. As we had to install a new program with temporary codes I had to install the patch to fix the date command for >1999. Up to today the date on the machine was set to 1902. After installing the patch, rebuilding the kernel etc. I set the date to 2002. After logging out from cde I can log in anymore. For all users (root included) I just get the message "account disabled - check administrator account". So I don't have any access now. I think I have to switch to single mode in order to change the passwords, but I don't have any idea how.

Thanx for your help!

Hello again,

I finally found my way to single user mode.
I created a new user with adduser, so that I have access again.
But I still don't know, how to reactivate the disabled root account. And additionally, when I went into single user mode again I was not allowed to do adduser again.

Thanx for your help,
Stephan

R U using C2 security?
Can you log in at the console?
Sounds like the accounts may have expired.
In single user mode, you are root, so try mounting /usr and /var, then issuing the passwd command to try and change the root user account.
