I simply want to have a second opinion on informations givent to me by a (another) consultant...

We just installed a stack of pure BPS2000 switches connected to a Nortel router. Since its been up, I keep getting about 20-30 alignment and FCS errors a day from the switch on the router port. The consultant told me that its not abnormal. These errors could be caused by packets comming in in the wrong order, therefore creating errors.

Its sounds ok to me, but I still find it strange that two Nortel equipments still generate such an amount of errors, especially since Ethernet only normally allows a 1 in 100000000 bit error rate.

Can someone confirm this information ?

Thx

If there is a fair amount of UDP traffic he is correct.
