aligning grouped objects

Hello all. I am having a problem with Ill. 10 that I never experienced with 8.

The situation: I group a few objects inside a square. Then i multiply that group a few times. then I use the alignment tools to align them into a straight line with the same amount of space between them.

The problem: The outside squares align with no problem but the stuff inside the squares doesnt move with the squares.

Result: A bunch of perfectly aligned squares with wacky inside parts.

Please help.

Im experiencing trouble with the align tool also with illustrator 10. Im having a textbox inside the boundary of a rectangle and the align tool doesnt align the textbox correctly or it even doesnt align. Also the distribute space between objects doesnt work correctly.

Yes. It seems that it is a text problem. If you convert text to outlines the alignment tool will work.

That is a really annoying way to do things though.
