Align problem

I created the shape and typed the words. I selected both the shape and words andI used the align to center them but it doesn't work although I used the align to center the pictures and it works. Can anybody help me?

What's not aligning? Horizontal or Vertical? If it's vertical that's giving you problems then you may have your text set to the top of the text box, make it centered text.
