Algo box 1

Hi, I am looking for some info please on the following.

I have been told that if I connect an Algo box using a usb lead to a I1120E IP handset and then plug an analogue phone into the other port of the Algo box, the analogue phone can then be used to make VOIP calls and will have the DN of the I1120E IP phone.

To me that seem like a load of BS. I suspect that you would have to connect the Algo box to a PC with a I2050 soft phone configured and then have the PC point to the IP of the CS1000. Connect the analogue phone up and then make Voip calls.

Anyone ever used one of these boxes.

Nortel has released the required firmware for trials but it is not yet generally available. I can assure you that it works.

The specific Algo device in question is their 4900 USB ATA.

Thanks for reply gwebster. do you know what the level of firmware needed is. I presume the firmware is for the phone and not the CS 1000.

Additional question, when you state that it does work you mean the Algo plugged into the I1120E phone?

I have sitting on my desk an IP Phone 1140E (same will work with 1120E or 1150E) running C6J firmware with a USB powered hub plugged into it's USB port and an Algo ATA plugged into the USB hub and an analog Polycom conference phone plugged into the Algo ATA. I also have a USB keyboard and USB mouse plugged into the USB hub. The USB hub is required in order to provide enough power for the ATA.

When I call the DN for the 1140E, both the IP Phone and the analog Polycom "ring". I can answer the call on either one.

If idle, when I press the "on/off" button on the Polycom I receive dialtone and can dial whatever number I want to reach.
