I actually have a very different question, I had the Alexa Toolbar on my PC Windowx XP and I like it, after running a few spyware programs, which I uninstalled again, the bar disappeared, now every time I install it, it shows up but is blank, I closed/disabled my Norton Secruity when I installed. Any ideas how I can get it back?

Thanks

Many spyware removers will find Alexa as a BHO and offer to remove or disable it, as it interferes with other sites popups, subverts links and provides un-asked-for links. If you're sure you want it try:

I don't know anything about this toolbar but I know, for example with some of the Norton and McAfee products, if there is an incomplete uninstall, sometimes the reinstall won't work properly.

With all your av stuff disabled, you could try the reinstall, reboot, try an uninstall from the program's uninstall menu, reboot, and reinstall again and see if that gets you any improvement.

Again, don't know how this would work in practice, but spybot has an ignore products setting, alexa stuff is under spybots, so in theory, once you had everything set up again, you should be able to use spybot and instruct it to ignore the alexa bar. Don't know how you might do that with Norton.

Are your registry and data backed up?

I didn't know it was an actual toolbar. The only thing I know about alexa is that every time I run a spyware/adware search on any computer I almost always seem to find an "alexa related" something or other on it. So, I doubt it's a good idea to put it back on there. It's probably just another hidden way for somebody or something to send information back to somebody or something somewhere that's waiting to take advantage of you.
