now i seem to have another problem. my backup job runs until 99% then hangs with an alert to remove backup media. the tape has already ejected but the job won't complete until i respond "ok" to the alert. as soon as i do, the job successfully completes. if i were not to respond to this, then the job would continue to run and the next job would be put in the "pending" state. i don't want to have to monitor this every day. any advice?

If you don't monitor every day, how do you know if the job is successful?

I have this error too, but I go into Exec every day to ensure last nights backup was a success...

You need to do some registry hacks which "respond OK" for you. Hope this helps.
