hi experts,

I've configured our 10g servers to send various Alerts to me. That works sweetly with our Notes email server.

Soon we will replace the Notes email server with Microsoft Exchange.

1. Has anyone had issues with email notifications after changing over to Exchange?

2. Does 10g email require MAPI support or can it use SMTP?
What about older versions such as 8 and 9.2?

I'm just trying to get ahead of any problems we may encounter.

Thanks. John

Hi John,
I'm used to use the 10g UTL_SMTP package to connect to exchange without any issues. It wasn't quite as full featured as what I was looking for, so now I use a java stored procedure to send mail.

Thanks jaxtell.

Maybe I didn't explain it very well.

I'm concerned that the system-generated emails - for example I have configured 10g to send me an email when the database becomes unavailable - may not get sent after we switch to Exchange. Oracle calls these types of emails 'Alerts' I believe.

I'm less concerned about the emails I need to send from an application - I know I can write (or find like you did) a stored proc that will work with Exchange.

Thanks, John
