Working with a Merlin Magix system. It has (2) 412-TDL cards and (2) ETR cards. I need to install an extension with a phone and an external alert strobe. How is this done? (4406D or Partner/MLS Phone)

You'll need 2 ports, one for the phone and one of the last 6 ports on the ETR card for the strobe. Program the strobe extension to cover the phone extension, so that the strobe fires when the phone is ringing.

Thank you, TTT. . . . I only have one ETR port available. I assume that I could use that for the strobe and put the phone on a TDL port, still covering the phone ext with the strobe ext. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct - you'll pick one of the last 6 ETR ports and program as Tip/Ring, use that for the strobe (BTW, a lot of line powered strobes don't really like single line ports on phone systems, so be sure and try it before committing to your customer. You might need a strobe with its own AC power cord)

And a TDL port for the actual phone is fine.

In Centralized Telephone Programming, you'll go to the strobe extension, and add a Primary Coverage "button" for the TDL extension - even though it's a single line extension, it has programmable "buttons" on it.

Can you not utilize the Aux port on a Partner 18D to plug the strobe in? That way, you only need (1) ETR port for the Partner phone. Anytime that phone rings, the Aux port rings as well. I've never done it with a strobe, but I have done it with an external bell and it works great.
