I use a variety of flavours of Arcserve (6.61WE/AE and 2000) on a number of NT4 servers. I use the Arcserve Alert manager to e-mail the backup reports to me. However, I have been asked to hide the e-mail account belonging to each server/agent from the Exchange GAL.

I know and have proved that if I hide them then the alert e-mail does not work. When I un-hide the mail gets through.

Is there a way around this? My boss doesn't want to see them in the GAL.

Notleks,

Agree with you that it can't be done. Tried it myself with the same results.
The way that I got around it was to get arcserve to send SNMP alerts to Compaq Insight Manager & then get it (CIM) to send a mail (SMTP - no mailbox req'd) to me about the backup. Outlook was then removed from the server & the mail account deleted.

Hope this is of help.

A.
