I am getting a bunch of alert 51016 warnings on a BCM400 after applying the recent patches.

The text in the Alert is:
Endpoint type does not match configured RemoteGateway type.
callingDN=8000, calledDN=2222.
Unable to find settings for gateway type BCM36. Using defaults.

The remote gateway is a BCM50 running Release 1.

I also got the message a few times on calls going to DN=3221 which is also a BCM 50 but it runs Release 3 and it is right up to date with it's patches. The old release 1 box will not be updated since that location is closing in a few months so there isn't any point in spending money on it. The calls go through and work just fine. These alerts were not appearing in the logs until I updated with some of the recent patches on the BCM400 side.

This BCM400 has the System Update 21 installed and we had the issues where the users, gateway, time settings, etc were wiped out by that patch. That SU 21 patch really stunk but after putting the settings back it seemed to work fine. We had some issues with extensions on the remote BCM50 sets were getting locked out but found a separate set of core patches for the BCM50 that fixed it. (both intercom buttons on the remote side light up and the user couldn't make internal calls)

We had some issues with PSTN fallback so I installed the latest patches which claim to have a fix for that and now I get all these warning alerts.

SU 21 had alot of problems and was taken out of service by Nortel. See below:

Patch I.D: BCM.R400.SU.System.021-200905

Action Taken: Patch category changed to OBE (Obsolete Emergency)

Problem description

It has been reported that after application of BCM.R400.SU.System.021-200905 following programming may be defaulted or lost:

- nnadmin password
- Date & Time source
- "Accounts" settings
- "Security Policy" settings
- "Music Source"
- "Routing Table"
- "Scheduled Backup" setting

Investigation has revealed that this problem is only experienced if:

1. There are no patches applied to the system.
2. Most current System Smart Update applied to system is a version earlier than BCM.R400.SmartUpdate.System.012-200806.

NOTE:
--------
If BCM.R400.SU.System.021-200905 is applied to a BCM with either one of the above conditions, it takes about ~50 minutes for SU to be applied.
Please do not power cycle the BCM during this period.

Interim Solution:
============
Patch BCM.R400.SU.System.020-200903 has been re-released and it's available for download from either or ESPL database (
Design is currently investigating the root cause on Change Request Q02038886 and Corrective Content will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you.

Yeah I know about patch 21 getting yanked but that happened after it was installed on ours. We had to deal with the problems it caused.

But that's not the issue here. Sorry I mentioned it. I didn't mean to confuse you so much.

Yes the following patches were installed after SU 21
BCM.R400.281-CORE
BCM.R400.275-VOICEMAIL
BCM.R400.271-IPTEL

The patch named: BCM.R400.278-SYSTEM-PROVIDER
Was included in the SU .21 release and did not need to be installed separately.

maybe it changed the settings on you somehow.

Well doesn't seem to be any settings changes.

I'm looking in the Telephony resources voip trunks and it is exactly the same as before.

Mostly I wonder if anyone who has a similar setup is getting the same kind of alert messages. Like I said, everything works just fine but all the alerts that are generated are annoying. There is a warning for every call made between branch offices.

Basically if you have a BCM 4.0 system with those patches and a remote BCM50 do you get the same alert warning?
