I'd like to know how to resolve this warning.
I have S8500 V3.1

8 GAM 2 WRN N Mon Feb 11 09:32:47 PST 2008 Alarm service failure - unable to report alarms
2 GAM 2 WRN N Fri Feb 08 08:30:27 PST 2008 Alarm service failure - unable to report alarms
0 GAM 2 WRN N Thu Feb 07 17:15:27 PST 2008 Alarm service failure - unable to report alarms

Thanks.

definityandcmuk, thank you.

As I know clearing alarms only removes the alarm notifications from the active alarm list.
I need to know how to fix the conditions that caused the alarms.

These alarms mean that the system has been unable to dialout to report alarms; are your modems connected?

you could try "testinads" from the bash see what this shows

If you do not have remote monitoring from Avaya or your BP you could disable the alarm outcalling which would prevent these alarms in future

I do have remote monitoring from my BP.

Here is what the "testinads" shows:

sergei1@DC-8500> testinads
Note: The Application may need several minutes before getting a reply.

What is wrong?

Thanks.

do a almenable and see what is configured; it looks like your system is outcalling but not receiving a response from the far end you may have to speak to your BP get them to check their alarm server

definityandcmuk, thank you very much for trying to help me.

I do not know much about working in the shell mode, so I do not how to read this "almenable" output.

What is my next step?

sergei1@DC-8500> almenable

Incoming Call: enable
Dial Out Alarm Origination: first
SNMP Alarm Origination: y

that output shows that incoming calls are allowed for alarm interrogation and the system will use the first 0SS Number;
almcall will show which number is administered,

it would be an idea to speak to your maintainer as I think this may be a far end issue

Are the modems connected to analogue lines through the system or are they direct out to the PSTN, may be an idea to plug a phone into the line and dial the OSS number (almcall shows this) see if it connects

I found the first OSS number, which is our BP number.
I connected a phone to the modem PSTN line, dialed that number and was connected to a modem on the other end.
Please let me know what I should do next.

you could try a testmodem -l
the alarm configuration seems to be OK as does the line, maybe its a modem problem

if this test passes I would contact your maintainer, if it fails maybe we can sort the modem problem out

sergei1@DC-8500> testmodem -l

TEST RESULT DESCRIPTION
____ ______ ___________
handshake PASS
offhook PASS

I sent an email to the BP.
We'll see.

Thank you very much.
I really appreciate your help.
