The install I set up about two months ago with 320 rooms with a networked MICS 7.1 at a motel is having a strange problem with the alarm feature.

I ma using M7208 sets with one of the buttons labled as WAKE-UP CALL using F875.

On all of the sets you can view the button via F*0 as ALARM. On some of the sets the feature will not work. I have tried different M7208 model because I know there are several versions but it will still not work.

Not every DN is effected and it is not just isolated to SYS-A or SYS-B.

I do feel it is not the set itself. I am now wondering if this could be an issue with the 0x16 MOD.

I would think that if it does not work for one it should not work for all but that is not the case.

The residents are complaining that they can not use this feature.

Any suggestions or testing for me to try?

I did testing and it looks like it is 4 of the 0x16 MODS. Very strang, any reason they would do this?

f 985 will not work when entered manually.

doing a button inquiry actually shows the word alarm assigned to that button

Each m208 has 2 IC lines assigned to them already

What is the error/symptom when doing either or?

Can you be more specific? display shows you enter the code? then goes back to time and date or inactive feature or blank or what?.

feature code is entered time and date on screen blinks and then remains steady.

that is all that happens

Have you swapped a M7208 that won't work when dialing F875 for a M7208 that does work? If there's no change I would suspect a software corruption. If it works I would check the release of the M7208's that don't work. Older release phones can be buggy on 7.1 software.

Being able to program a feature key with F 875 and manually dial in F 875 is not the same, I bet you when they press the feature programmed key it gives them the same error when you dial it manually.

I have done all diagnostics on different set models and the problem has been isolated to the 0 x 16 module

this is a large network system with 320 dns

I am going to be exchanging some of the defective 0 x 16 modules tonight to see if that resolves problem

This is a shot in the dark but check to make sure that somebody has not accidently turned on the static time feature & secondly have you tried a 7310 or 7316 set?

Not on, Yes and Yes.

It modules. I have isolated it to the modules. Now why it would be a module I do not know.

This is a new install and I have not had time to change the modules our yet. I hope to do this this week and report back.

I have now swapped out three 0x16 MODs and the problem is still the same.

This is on System B MODS 10,11,12,13 & 14.

Now the fact that they are in order makes me wonder if like CID space available which is I think only 600 records, could this feature only allow up to so many stations or DNS to use it before it is out of space or memory for the alarms.

For this system I have a MICs with 32 DN's then 7 0x16, ( not all the DN's have been assigned ) actually only about 1/2 have sets attached and the rest are not even configured for this feature

BTW this is a motel setting that is why all DNS have this feature assigned. there is a WAKE-UP CALL button on each set.

Just a thought. Any ideas. Maybe there is a configuration setting that allows more memory to be allocated or more DNs permission to use the feature. Could this be in the HOSPITALITY setting.

I do also have a number of DN's on the B channel.

I'm wondering if, they forgot to add hospitality to the expanded software. Remember that 7.x is newly opened in slots 13 and 14 to station mods.

All of the mods you are mentioning are on the 2nd expansion card.

How about, for sh_ts and giggles, you try swapping to 1st card. Turn set relo on and move the fibres.

I also went back to the 4.1 addendum (where hospitality was introduced) "At all times, the Norstar system allows up to a maximum of 25 sets that can alert at the
same time."
