Hi.
Ive just installed HPov 6.1 on a windows 2000 box. Other features such as the topology diagram work fine...and all snmp parameters have been set.
I have also installed several mibs. The network is 2 rsm's 3 6506 switches, 2 3640 routers and several 2950 switches.
Now I have enabled the correct config statements on the network boxes..and sure enough...when I change something..I get a message on the alarms viewer. All mibs have been installed
The problem is that all alarms are of the format 'event x.x.x.x.x.x.x.xx.' I check this...and it says that there is no proper event definition.
Could someone please tell me how I should enable this so that the reports in the alarms browser are a bit more user friendly.?
Thanks

Hi,

You need to load in the trap files for the products you are managing.

The trap definitions are supplied as part of mib files which you can obtain from the manufacturers web sites. Some manufacturers also supply pure trap files which have just the trap definitions in, which are even more convenient.

You can download the Cisco trap file from my web site :

Have a look at the comments in the start of the file to see how to load the trap file in using the xnmevents command.

Just trying to install these other mibs..and I still get the error that I have not loaded the mib that defines 'CiscoMgmt'.
I have loaded the default 'cisco' mib however..
Any ideas ?

ok so i managed to solve that one...but still...the trap format does seem a little strange.
