Hello,

I have been having intermittent problems today with my Norstar MICS in which I am unable to make outbound calls using any of my two service providers. Inbound calls are coming in fine.

I have received Alarm Code 63-217, which I looked up. The following was listed:

"Wait until a DTMF Receiver becomes available. If this alarm occurs frequently, add an additional Trunk Cartridge with DTMF receivers"

I have only had this come up once, but the problem has been ongoing all day. I also received the following Event errors but am unable to find their meaning anywhere:

EVT 453-04810000.....
EVT 453-04310000.....

Anyone have any suggestions or solutions as to what is causing this and how to correct it???

Event 453:

CAUSE:
Someone is entering **CONFIG. The parameters contain the DN of the set that is being used to enter **CONFIG and the Access Level that they have.

ENVIRONMENT:
The event occurs on a set.

HUMAN ACTION:
NONE

From the installer guide:
"Alarm: 63-Z
1. Check that you have the required E&M Trunk Cartridges.
There should be a maximum of one for every two
auto-answer loop start lines installed in a Trunk Module.
2. Enter programming and look under the Trk/Line data
heading. Check that the Answer mode is correct for all the
loop start lines.
3. Make sure that all of your E&M trunks installed in a Trunk
Module are configured as E&M or DTMF, whichever
applies, so that the system knows the receivers are there.
4. If the problem persists, an E&M Trunk Cartridge may be
malfunctioning. Replace one E&M Trunk Cartridge at a
time until the problem is resolved."

Do you have E&M trunks? if not check the answer mode on the loop start lines.

The vendor will be out to replace my T1 card. Does this sound like a viable solution?

You may need a combo card since that is where the DTMF receiver module/tone generator actually is. please let us know the end result.
