I have a trunking question about a Merlin Magix 2.0

The users on this system are intermittently getting a busy signal when calling long distance. The long distance pool is an ISDN PRI. It is also the same pool that we receive inbound DID calls on. The 23 channels in this pool should be large enough since there are only 30 people on this system.

When I check the alarm log it says: “pool empty slot 00, port 2 / code 4c01” Does this mean there is a problem with one of my pools? Kind of strange that it doesn’t specify the pool number.

The error code is this:

Pool Empty:
Desc.
The system needed to use a trunk in a pool but no trunks were physically present in the pool, that is, all of the boards were removed from the system.
Action.
Check that the pool has a trunk assigned and the problem persists, replace the boards.

This is what the trouble shooting manual says. Board 00 is the processor which is hoaky!! I am thinking try a board renumber to re-establish configuration to match programming.

Of course back up the programming first, just in case.
Double check your PRI setup. Occassionally strange transients occur when logged in with WinSpm.

Let us know what turns up!

Thanks guys. I still havn't figured it out yet.
Every time the users are unable to place a call I get a "invalid sanity Response" in the alarm log and
also "command buffer full". These are both logged for slot 4, which is my PRI. I am starting to think
the problem is with my PRI config. The carrier is
using a dms-100, ESF, B8ZS and "custom". Here is
my PRI, does this look right?

There's two things you should look at ,first you mentioned that the switch is DMS100 (custom),the protocol should be NI2 not Custom ,you use custom only if you have 5ESS switch.Second I saw that your CSU is not active ,do you have outside CSU if not then you have to activate your internal CSU.

Good Luck.

Thanks Samh30. I turned on the CSU which seems to have fixed the minor errors I was getting on the DS1 card, however I am still having the same problem. I checked with the carrier and asked them if their switch was set to NI2. They said they were set to NI1. Will my PRI configuration work with NI1?

If the switch is DMS 100 or 250,or 500 it has to be set for NI2 .If its 5ESS then it should be Custom protocol.

Good Luck.

Check the Error log on the PRI slot. If error times there are consistent with inability to dial out, there's the problem. Also, check ARS table - could there be another pool of lines set up to use that are empty. Invalid sanity checks come from a bad T-1......and sometimes from the people who work with them. TipHelp@charter.net

This alarm:
“pool empty slot 00, port 2 / code 4c01
Means that there are no lines programmed in a pool that is programmed on a button on some of your phones, or is in an ARS table, for example a table set for long distance.

Since pools are a feature on your processor the error code will reside on slot zero. The ports refer to which pool. Port 1= pool 70, port 2= pool 890, port 3= pool 891, etc.

I would check the ARS tables, and see if any of them have that empty pool.

Thanks redphone, I did not know that. I will check my ARS tables, it sounds like I may have an empty pool somewere.

It turns out that it was just a bad DS1 card (100D) that was causing my initial problem. I replaced it and it is working fine now. Thanks for everyone's help.
