Im still waiting for nigh on 2 HOURS for the Alarm Browser to start on hpov 6.1 on a windows 2000 pentium iii (nothing else running).
Ive placed all the devices I wish to monitor on a hosts file. Now when AB goes into the 'reading event db' it seems to take forever.
Can anyone who knows about Openview please let me know what else I can do here, any help is much appreciated - and this is starting to get serious...
Thanks

astin,

Ok, if name resolution is ok now (I am skeptical since it is still taking so long) and you have run the checkDNS.ovpl program and it does not see any problems, then you need to delete your event database. That will clear all the events. In you directory tree (I am on UNIX and do not know the exact windows path) find a directory called eventdb and delete every thing in that directory. That will clear all your events out. When you first bring the alarm broweser up again, check the events that are comming in and find out why you are receiving so many. Also you might want to post questions to the forum at the following link:

They have a much larger following.

Thank you very much indeed. I shall try this out and let you know of the outcome. Im on Win 2000 so will have to do a bit of a search for the event db. If anyone knows the filename then I would appreciate it if they could let me know what it is
