ajax powered search

Hello all. I would like to make a search from that checks the input against a database and gives a dropdown list of suggestions via ajax. Does anybody know how to do this or know of any resources? I would greatly appreciate it.

I use scriptaculous/prototype with coldfusion. If you are using CF8 they have something off the shelf.

scriptaculous and prototype are cool enough, but HUGE files compared to jquery.

CF8 built in ajax stuff is cool enough also, but WAY bloated...

I recently discovered that the old versions of prototype.js had a few bugs which caused odd errors.

I came across that when using <cfwindow>, thread232-1458447, someone pointed out that in IE I was getting a JS error, and digging further realized that it was related to prototype.js
