Could anybody explain the diagServiceEvent command running?
On a p690/AIX5.1-02, with 3590 tape drive connected, each time a drive is offline, then multiple diagServiceEvent commands are launched, then snap commands.
These "diag" commands are running on a loop, and last time I had more than 1000 processes launched!
Which process launches this diagServiceEvent?

Thanks!

Hello,
IT is working as design. meaning there is error in the error log and this diag is going to run. I remember one time a fiber cable was disconnected between FC HBA and FC switch and diag had 12,000 process running.

You can trace all the process to parent process and kill that process or run diag and then take advance diag option.

Do you have service director or service agent running on the system.

Thanks,

That was the good way.
In fact Service Agent is not installed on my system, but an errnotify method in odm was set up for launching diagela, then diagServiceEvent automatically. I've deleted this method.

Hello,
You have taken a wrong step.

The diag function is needed. if there is a problem with hardware then you want to run diag -> advance diag -> problem determination -> on the device and if it comes back with SRN service request number you want to call IBM hardware to comeout and fix the hardware.

The other option is to clear error log. Since you run P690 is regetta system contact IBM and see what the support tells you. There is a better way then taking out from odm.
