If rootvg is on a VIO server and has two physical volumes, hdisk0 and hdisk1, are the commands the same as on internal disk on standalone servers? The external disk are in concurrent volume groups for hacmp/es.

For example, to increase the number of logical partitions you use 'extendlv mylv 4' or 'mirrorvg -c3 rootvg hdisk1 hdisk2' for mirroring to three PVs.

Thanks.

From AIX OS point of view, a disk is a disk. All LVM commands apply.

Thanks.

Would you mirror rootvg and run bosboot and bootlist now and wait for a reboot later?

Yes,

But if you go from unmirrored to 2 mirrors, the quorum for rootvg will be turned off, so you'll need a reboot (varyoffvg/varyonvg of rootvg) to activate the changed quorum rule for rootvg if you're on AIX 5.3 (On AIX 6.1 the change in quorum rule is effective without a reboot).
