AIX upgrade using NIM

I was upgrading aix 5.1 to 5.3 using NIM alt_disk install process. nimadm_migrate was failing at phase 5 with the following error.
Saving system configuration files.
/usr/bin/lslpp: No such file or directory
0505-177 nimadm: An unrecoverable error has occurred during pre-install processing.

Any idea what's causing his error.I have done couple of other upgrades with the same NIM server without any problem.
