AIX upgrade on F50

General question, we have an F50 running system firmware WOL04197 and service processor firmware wc010611. Can we upgrade this system to AIX 5.1 from AIX 4.3.3? Thanks for any help you can provide.

check

for firmware , make sure you load the latest firmware for your machine , you shouldn't have a problem upgrading to AIX 5.1 , providing you have latest firmware installed ,
check all your adapters on the system , if you have invscout installed then upload the file to

this will tell you which devices require firmware loading

Also when upgrading you will need the xlc.rte.43.rte 5.0.2.0 and xlc.rte 5.0.2.0 installed before you do the migrate install

Also make sure you have maintenance level greater that 10 installed

Thank you for this valuable information. We attempted the ugrade unsuccessfully but did not install xlc.rte.43.rte 5.0.2.0 and xlc.rte 5.0.2.0 first. So we'll try that and let you know.
