AIX upgrade from AIX 5.1 to 5.2 or 5.3

I recently learned that support for AIX 5.1 comes to an end on April 1st, 2006. We are running 5.1 ML 09 on our P630. I've applied ML's before but never a full version upgrade.

Should I be aware of any differences between an ML update and a full version upgrade? What kind of things should I be aware of? Thanks for any help.

Yes, they are nothing alike. You will need to look up how to do a migration installation on IBMs website.

It's pretty straight forward, but I would recommend you read the following

and remember "Backup" with mksysb & savevg before you start.

I would also recommend you goto ML 4 straight away on 5.2
