AIX TSM Gui

hi all,

i am new to tsm
i would like to do aix restores by gui , i don't have hummingbird here . how to bring gui on aix hosts

i am using reflection terminal
i run dsm & , it saying the below ..

$ dsm &
[1] 344110
$ ksh: dsm: not found.


even i export the ip address , even the same result

$ export DISPLAY=XXXXXXX:0.0
$ dsm &
[1] 344314
$ ksh: dsm: not found.


is reflection is not an xwindow terminal ???
and more over i didn't find dsm executable in /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin path
my client is at 5.4 level 2.0


any help appreciated

reflection is not a graphical emulator tool!

You need to either use exceed or xmanager or even cygwin for that!

It has been a long time since i used TSM so i remember what you are saying about dsm and i think it should be in the directory you've mentioned!

Here is the hummingbird website that you can download xceed from! I think you can download a trial version as well!

reflection/X IS an X emulator, but that is not your problem...

The error message clearly says:

[tt][red]ksh: dsm: not found.[/red][/tt]

Your shell cannot locate the executable dsm, so it is either in a dir that is not in your search PATH or DSM client is not installed.

Get that fixed first, then if you get messages about DISPLAY not set or can't open, then you start looking into X configuration problems. In any case dsmc (character based) exists also.

When I restore from tsm using gui the gui is a java tool. before using the gui you have to configure and start "dsmcad"
dsmcad is a tsm build-in "webserver"

Then from a browser

The one we use at work is the normal Reflection software (without the X!)

I just found from a link mentioned above that the dsm is nolonger used! So even if he was setting the PATH to /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin he won't find the dsm!

you must install a Xserver on your workstation (Reflection X or somewhat else)

export the Display variable on AIX

and start dsmj &

so before of all these i need a xwindow terminal , as u guys said i am using regular reflextion not an xreflextion i guess , can any one suggest is there any free xwindow emulator software available ..i am unable to download xmanager , and there is no trail version of exceed ...
