Want to do the certification early in the new year, basically studying the Redbooks, I have composed a document from questions scrounged all over (Topcat, sample tests, etc).

Anyone got some braindumps floating around which may or may not help me with my studies? I can mail you whatever I have in return if so desired.

I am sure you saw the new red book out about a few days now...Dec 15 I think...
Anyway.... if you didn't you should get it.

search on certification

The new tests have a mixture of 4.3 and 5.1 mostly 4.3.....but a few 5.1 stumpers.

Good Luck on your test

is there any difference about these 2 certifications?

1. IBM Certified Specialist -AIX system Administration

2. IBM eserver Certified Specialist - pSeries AIX System Administration.

or should i say, "ibm eserver certified specialist" just include the AIX5L ver 5.1?

can i still take "ibm certified specialist"?

The old test for the Sys Adm which was just Aix 4 is supposedly gone as of
December 2, I think......
so
all that is left is the
IBM eserver Certified Specialist - pSeries AIX System Administration
(I may be wrong...check the cert web site) I believe there is a note that the
old test is pulled and only the new level is left)

You are still and IBM certified specialist...but the name has changed to protect
the innocent...or in this case to include the new architecture and 5L as well.

(Note: Exam 191 contains AIX V4 content up to and including AIX 5L V5.1)
One year of AIX or UNIX user experience.
Training in AIX system administration, or equivalent experience.

Core Requirement (1 Test):

IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries AIX System
Administration

Test 191 or Test 181
Note: Exam 181 will be withdrawn December 1, 2001.

If you are taking the "AIX Support" exam, the check this out...
I think, practice and experience is the key to pass this test (unlike the microsoft MCSE).

Thanks!

Thanks to all, it seems that I should be OK, I do have around 6 years of AIX exposure, my only shortcoming is on the X windows bit, always woked remotely via telnet.

I got the hint "talam", about the questions at the end of the chapters. I have downloaded the AIX support exam too, extra info won't hurt. I have used Topcat's resources already, looking good.

Thanks "aixqueen", I have managed to download the pSeries Rebook a few days ago, just as well, I had the previous 4 separate books all lined up to print. I will need to take their word on the 5.1 stuff though, we have the disks but no machine to install it on. Pity...

For all your helpful comments you guys deserve a star. Ta! IBM Certified Specialist - MQSeries

Topcat - can't find it on the web, does anyone know what its new URL is?

It's got to the point where it has it's own domain name now, you can find it here:

Hi,
I have seen ur message in this forum and I assume you are appearing/appeared for MQseries certification. I'm also in preperation for certification. So, can you please send the document that you have prepared for certificatoin. Even myself prepared some questions and can send you, if needed.
thanks,
kishor babu.

Keep in mind you (used to) only need to make like 66% on the test. I blew the X questions and still made it. Who uses X anyway?

Has anyone have pass this exam before ? How many questions in this exam ? Is it easy ?

It's been a while... sixty questions with a one-hour time limit seem right to everyone for the SysAdmin test? The Support test was ninety minutes, I remember that, and probably ninety questions...?

Is it easy? A very subjective question.

there are new tests for most now...new sys adm, new aix support.... which covers a little of 4x and 5x. You should really go to the IBM cert site and read the
objectives, samples etc....

Then you can jump to topcat to take a sample test

pSeries AIX System Administration 75minutes 62 questions
pSeries AIX System Support 90minutes 63 questions

and as I said previously go to and search on certification
