I've been working on Solaris for many years.

I'm currently working at a place which is mainly Solaris but with some AIX as well.

I would like to get certified on AIX and was wondering which certification would be most appropriate for someone with over a decade of Solaris experience ?

IBM Power Systems Certifications:

If you already have (or can get) some kwnoledge and experience about Power Systems HW and partition/virtualization (LPAR/VIO) I recommend you tests 223 and 100.

Test 223: Test 100:
With test 223 you get "IBM Certified Specialist - System p Administration".

With tests 100 and 223 you get "IBM Certified Systems Expert - Enterprise Technical Support for AIX and Linux".

Thanks MoreFeo, any books you would recommend ?

I think redbooks ( is a good place to start.

I'd focus on:
- AIX LVM ( - AIX installation and recovery ( - AIX problem determination ( - PowerVM partitioning and virtualization ( - and/or some certification specific redbooks (
And of course, look for the tests in Internet. It's easier and better to study the questions, rather than having a lot of experience.

If you don't find test 223 look for test 222 and 180, they're the old ones.
