AIX Service menu (I think) on system boot

I have a customer that has what I think is a service menu come up whenever they reboot their AIX system. It prompts them for keyboard, terminal type, then it says config or exit. Once they select exit it prompts them for a user id and password.
Does anybody know how to turn this thing off so it boots straight to an AIX login prompt?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the service processor menu, turn off multiboot.

No, sounds to me like it is running firstboot/installation_assist after a fresh install. It falls into a subset of smit screens that invites the installer to set a root password, configure network, install other software and such. There is an option to exit and not run install_assist again on next boot.

I think you're right about it being firstboot/installation assist. This particular user did something really stupid and had to do a fresh install (they couldn't find their makesysb tape).
I'll see if I can walk them through the option to exit and not run install_assist. If that fails, do you know of a way to manually turn it off without rebooting?

I guess it's linked to somewhere in /etc/firstboot. Just rename that file to /etc/fb-DATE-TIME (replace DATE and TIME ;-))

But it shouldn't be that hard even for an unexperienced user to find the smit/install_assist menu option "Tasks Completed - Exit to Login" (last option on the menu).

Once they get in that menu, tell 'em to hit down key 5 times and then to press enter.
