AIX Savevg Using

Dear Support,

If we are using "Raw Device" on informix database and also
we current use informix database on IBM RS/6000 machine.
Therefore,if we use AIX command "savevg" whether "Raw Device" would be backup normally.Certainly ,informix database will be shutdown before issue "savevg" !

PS:If we restore this vg backup media that informix will be startup normally after we restore completed ?

If u are using raw Filesystems the savevg will not be helful in backing up your informix database.

AIX command do not work on raw file systems for eg you cannot do fsck on raw filesystem and it will not help.

you may use backup of the database itself.

Savevg ... All logical volume information is archived and will be recreated.
However, only JFS-mounted file system data will be archived.
Raw logical volume data will NOT be archived using a savevg.
