Hi,
I'm new to this forum and not very familiar with AIX.
We are using AIX 6.1 with the AIX printing subsystem.
My question: What happens if a remote print queue is down - will new print jobs sent to that queue be added to the queue or does the sending system receive a non acknowledgement or something like that ?
I'm wondering if the /var/spool/qdir could run out of space if a queue is down for a longer period and still jobs are added to the queue.

Thx for any help !

hi,

if the print qeueue is down , it will accept print job requsts , but nothing will print out.

You can customize print queue characteristics to send an alarm to admin if the print queue is down or write a shell script for that purpose.

Here comes polani Once again!!!

Thanks for the information, I'll configure the queues to reenable automatically after a defined period of timeout.
I guess this can be done by using the recovery type options.
