IBM manuals/Red Papers list some of the threshold values, which may warrant further investigation as it relates to AIX system's performance red-flags.
One of them is us+sys > 80 (sar values); another wa (of vmstat) or wio (of sar command).
I have problems finding out the threshold values to determine that system is thrashing.
What are the thresholds as they relate to "pi to po" rate (vmstat output) or other vmstat and/or sar output fields' values?
Does anyone have a very high-level performance checklist, which can be used to alert to the following problems:
- cpu
- RAM memory
- io
- network
Thank you very much
