So here I am everybody. The NooB you have been waiting to make fun of... I recently acquired an aix responsibility and am not at all familiar with this system. I have searched the net only to find nothing. I am attempting to login to this system with known good info and can not on one terminal. At the top of the screen there is a line with CAPS and BLK above it. I know how to turn off caps but the BLK thing is driving me crazy! What is it used for and how do I turn it off?

A screenshot can be found and the following url...

Ok, so, to answer my own question... BLK is not even related to AIX except for that it is a setting in the terminal itself. I changed it to FDX and away I went. The setting was in my WYSE 50 terminal. Sorry for being so ignorant. It is just that I never learned anything about this ancient hardware because it is well before my time. I am only 20.

Wait until you need to load the punch paper tape into the reader, and you drop a handful of batch cards to the floor :)

I might be young but that is still hilarious... Punch cards are super old school!
