AIX - newcomer-question

Hi,

I'm completely new to AIX and have a question which causes me a headache

I reconfigured the ETH1 adapter to a new network-adress and rebooted the system. Now nothing works anymore. while the boot sequence the loading screen appears and after that the whole screen is black. After a while there is a purple cursor which I can move all over the screen (!).

I've read in some forum, that it is possible to start AIX in a 'recovery- or safe-mode' but I do not know how to do this!

Could someone help me with this problem? Thank you very much in adv!

PS: The system is also not reachable via telnet/ssh (

Boot on the AIX CD to get the recovery mode.

The have a look to your network parameters.

A usual problem apeers when you declared a DNS and you cant reach it.

But if you cant have a distant connection, it should be a real problem in your parameters, gateway....

Hi,

thank you! Now I figured out how to boot from our streamer tape and saved back the whole system

While booting I pressed F3 - didn't thought it's that easy
