how do I find the make server on AIX?

/usr/ccs/bin/make

yes it does...

but how can I find out what version it is?

GNU make, I usually do make --version, what about AIX make?

hello,

like many other AIX commands, you define the version by the version of the fileset which brings the command.

'make' comes from the bos.adt.base archive (can be compared to a rpm archive), and you know the version of the archive / fileset with the 'lslpp' command, eg :

lslpp -L bos.adt.base

and BTW, to know which fileset brings a command, you can issue :
lslpp -w /complete/path/to/the/command

regards

To know the version of make in aix

#grep bos /usr/ccs/lib/aix.mk

hope it helps.

Does

what /usr/bin/make

help? It gives you the versions of all the make source components. Maybe those are internal IBM lab version numbers. I don't know.
