Hello All. I am wondering if anyone knows how I can redirect mail that is being sent to a user to go to another mailbox. I am trying to stop the msg from coming up on users logging in that they have new mail. AIX 4.3.3.7. I know the file is in /var/spool/mail/%username . I just dont want them notified or I would like to get the mail sent to another location. ANy Help would be greatly appreciated! I believe I have been able to stop this in the past I just cant remeber right off & cant find any notes on it. Thanks in advance!

Put the alternate email address in the .forward file located in the users home directory.

By the way, if the .forward file does not exist, just create it with vi.

Example:
/home/myuser>#vi .forward

otheradd@mydomain.com
~
~
~
~
~
wq!

/home/myuser>#

Alternatively add an alias in the /etc/aliases file to redirect the mail elsewhere, e.g.:

bobo:bobo@otherjukebox.clown.com

IBM Certified Flabbergasted - AIX 5 pSeries System Administration
