Hi AIX gurus,
I encounter a problem with remote print to AIX print server.
The print queue in the AIX print server went down after it received print job from other AIX system and the print job is queued in the AIX print server queue. Everytime I try to bring up this print queue the status wont change ( no error returned ), it is always in DOWN state . I could bring up this print queue after the remote print job deleted. I tested this AIX server print queue with local print ( using lp command ) and it worked. Is this problem caused by lpd daemon? Please help
Thanks for your reply.

When your local print queue (AIX) went down, it was probabyl a communication error between the printer and the local print queue. Depending on the connection to the printer, it could be a slew of different things. What type of connection to the printer is it (network, serial, parallel)? Did the remote (origional request) queue go down as well? What kind of printer is it? What is the origional request coming from (OS)?

Hi Crowe,
Thanks for your reply.
This problem is already solved. The cause of this
problem is invalid privilege for /etc/hosts file.
lpd userid cannot read the IP for the print queue since
/etc/hosts privilege is 640.

kind regards,
yonk
