AIX Fast Connect & Windows XP

I'm having connection issues with XP workstations connecting to shared directories on an AIX p620 server.
AIX Fast Connect is being used so the windows boxes can map to directories on the server.
The problem is that the connection is not consistent.
Sometimes, I can map instantly, other times, the xp box cannot see the share and I have to try to map it several times before it finally takes.

Any suggestions?
