Hello,

I'm trying to help out my colleague who is trying to upgrade a M80 from 4.3.0 to AIX 5.2, from a 9.1 gig disk to a 18.2 gig disk. He did his mksysb with the default 1016 pp size instead of the 2032 size. Can I just have him recreate his mksysb with the 2032 pp size, then try to upgrade the disk, and lay the data back down on the new 18.2 disk with the new pp sizes? Any thoughts? Thanks!

chvg -t 2 rootvg
Add the new hdisk
extendvg rootvg new hdisk
mirrorvg rootvg to new hdisk
remove mirror from hdisk0
change boot device to new hdisk
create new boot record
mksysb
reboot (just to be wure it is OK)
migrate

OR you could:

Run mkszfile
Edit it to make PP size of rootvg bigger
Reduce # PPs or each LV in rootvg to compensate for the bigger PPS size
Run a mksysb, do not specify the "-i" option
Restore the mksysb to hdisk0 and you now have a new hdisk0 with the bigger PP size that will support the 18GB drive
